The feasibility study for the 2026 Street Improvements Project was presented to the council and accepted on December 15th. The scope of work includes full street reconstruction of the Downtown area and Industrial Street. The project includes sanitary sewer, watermain, and storm sewer. The cost apportionment, as presented, is consistent with the City Code and past practice for similar projects.

- 7/1/26: Pre-construction meeting
- 7/2/26: 2026 Downtown Reconstruction Notice
- 7/5/26: Construction is scheduled to begin the week
- Start the remove asphalt
- Trash & Recycling Service: Trash and recycling bin should be placed as usual at the end of driveways. Construction crews will ensure the bins are placed in position to be picked up by Republic Services.
- Private Improvements in Right-of-Way: Please reach out to the construction representative to see if improvements in your yard you have may be impacted by the construction. The property owner is responsible for securing these private improvements and moving them if necessary to allow the project to be constructed.
- 7/6/26: Construction notice for downtown project
- Street reclaiming is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, on Main Street, Pioneer Avenue, Delano Avenue, Maple Avenue, and Budd Avenue.
- Residents and visitors are asked to remove all vehicles from the street by 7:00 a.m. Parking may resume once reclaiming is complete on your street. If work is postponed due to weather, it will be rescheduled for the following day.
- 7/13/26: Downtown Street Construction update
- Water shutdowns are planned as part of this project. For any anticipated shutoff periods, residents will be provided with a notice delivered to the front door the day before. Maximum of 6 hours between 9am-3pm. Door hangers will be placed on doors to notify residents of the temporary shutdown.
- ***UPDATE*** Temporary water connection is delayed a few days. Temporary water will be set up on 7/17.
- 7/20/26: Street Project Update for the Week of July 20
- Temporary above-ground water system on Friday, July 17. This temporary system allows crews to safely replace the existing water main while maintaining water service.
- Sanitary Sewer Replacement Begins the Week of July 20. Starting at the intersection of Main Street East and Budd Avenue and progress westward
- Drain Tile Installation at Rainbow Park. Construction crews will be installing drain tile near the warming house. Visitors may encounter construction equipment and temporary work areas while the installation is underway.
- Limited library access. The only access to the library is by traveling south on Budd Avenue from Highway 12. There is no access to the library from the Main Street East and Budd Avenue intersection (traveling north on Budd Avenue).
- 07/21/26: Planned Water Shutdown on Maple Avenue for Water Main Improvements
- The City of Maple Plain and Bolton & Menk will be conducting a planned water shutdown, on Thursday July 23rd, to allow crews to replace the water main on Maple Avenue.
- The shutdown is expected to impact properties in the vicinity of Maple Avenue between Main Street East and Independence Street, where crews will install a new water main connection (wet tap) and a new fire hydrant and gate valve as part of the project.
- You may notice air in the water lines or temporary discoloration. This is normal after water main work and should clear after flushing your plumbing.
- 07/27/26: Street Project Update for the Week of July 27
- Maple Avenue - Crews will install a new water main connection (wet tap), fire hydrant, and gate valve on Maple Avenue between Main Street East and Highway 12.
- Storm sewer replacement will continue along Main Street East to Maple Avenue.
- Crews will continue replacing the sanitary sewer and water main on Maple Avenue, with work progressing west through the project area along Main Street to Marsh Avenue.
- 08/03/26: Street Project Update for the Week of August 3
- Continuing installation of the sanitary sewer on Main Street between Pioneer Avenue and Maple Avenue.
- Beginning installation of the storm sewer on Main Street, starting near the Public Works facility and progressing east.
- Potential water main installation work on Main Street between Maple Avenue and Delano Avenue, as crews and project conditions allow.
- 10/16/26: Substantial completion of construction
- 09/27/27: Final completion of street improvements

- 2026-06-01 Contractors will begin replacing the water main on Industrial Street on 6/2/26. be coming in to finish up installing the gate valves and hydrants. The goal is to have the gate valves and hydrants installed by the end of the week. Next week, testing of the new water mains will begin.
