Construction will continue throughout the downtown project area during the week of September 21. Major underground utility work for the 2026 Downtown Reconstruction Project is nearly complete. Crews are beginning to rebuild the streets and moving overhead electrical/cable service underground.
Planned work includes:
- Xcel Energy will bury electrical lines along Main Street East, working west from Budd Avenue starting the week of September 28
- Frontier & MediaCom will conduct utility work during the weeks of September 21 and September 28.
- Crews will begin rebuilding downtown streets near the Fire Department and move east along Main Street.
- Starting on September 21, crews will install drain tile at Rainbow Park and rebuild the parking lot. Parking lot paving is expected to begin in early October.
Residents and motorists should expect construction equipment, temporary access restrictions, and changing traffic patterns. Please use caution in work zones, follow posted signs, and allow extra travel time.
Schedules may change due to weather, site conditions, or other unexpected issues. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as crews complete these important improvements.
Library Access
As construction continues in the downtown project area, access to the Maple Plain Library is temporarily limited.
The only access to the library is by traveling south on Budd Avenue from Highway 12. There is no access to the library from the Main Street East and Budd Avenue intersection (traveling north on Budd Avenue).
Please follow posted detour signs and allow extra travel time when visiting the library.
