Fire Department
The Maple Plain Fire Department provides fire suppression, rescue and medical response, fire inspections, and fire prevention education to the citizens of Maple Plain, Independence, Baker Park, and Medina.
The department is currently staffed by 19 paid-on-call firefighters. All firefighters are trained to a state requirement of Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2, and HazMat Awareness. Firefighters are also trained as an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or licensed Paramedic (NRP).
The Fire Department merger with West Suburban Fire District was finalized on December 16th, with both Maple Plain & Independence signing the agreements, turning over fire services to West Suburban Fire District on January 1, 2026.
