As work continues on the 2026 Downtown Reconstruction Project, several major construction activities are scheduled during the week of July 27.
Water Main Connection (Wet Tap) – Maple Avenue
Crews will install a new water main connection (wet tap), fire hydrant, and gate valve on Maple Avenue between Main Street East and Highway 12.
What to Expect
- Residents and businesses in the affected area will receive a door hanger notice with the specific date and estimated water shutdown time before work begins.
- Water service interruptions are expected for properties near Maple Avenue between Main Street East and Independence Street.
- Schedules may change due to weather or field conditions.
After Water Service is Restored
- Run cold water from two or more faucets for several minutes, beginning with an outdoor spigot or laundry tub if possible.
- Temporary air in the water lines or discolored water is normal after water main work and should clear after flushing.
- If discoloration or other issues persist after flushing, please contact the construction representative.
Storm Sewer Replacement
Storm sewer replacement will continue along Main Street East to Maple Avenue.
Sanitary Sewer & Water Main Replacement
Crews will continue replacing the sanitary sewer and water main on Maple Avenue, with work progressing west through the project area. Residents and motorists should expect construction activity, temporary lane closures, and changing traffic patterns.
Please use caution when traveling through the construction zone, follow all posted signs, and allow extra travel time. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we improve Maple Plain's infrastructure.
Library Access
As construction continues in the downtown project area, access to the Maple Plain Library is temporarily limited.
The only access to the library is by traveling south on Budd Avenue from Highway 12. There is no access to the library from the Main Street East and Budd Avenue intersection (traveling north on Budd Avenue).
Please follow posted detour signs and allow extra travel time when visiting the library.
