Construction activities will continue throughout the project area during the week of September 8.
Construction activities will continue throughout the downtown project area during the week of September 8 as crews make progress on water main and storm sewer improvements. Major underground utility work associated with the 2026 Downtown Reconstruction Project is nearing completion. The project will now move into the next phase, which includes converting overhead electrical service to underground service.
Planned work includes:
- Xcel Energy will begin to bury electrical lines on Main Street East. Starting at Budd Avenue and going West.
- MediaCom will be in Maple Plain to conduct work during the weeks of 9/14 & 9/21
- Continued water main work on Delano Avenue and Spring Avenue
- Continued and finishing water service connections on Main Street.
- Continued storm sewer installation and pond basin preparation.
- Optional Sump Pump Service Connections
- Affected property owners may also request the installation of a sump pump service box. This connection can help reduce water flowing across sidewalks and curbs.
- The base cost is $250 and will be added to the property’s project assessment. Property owners who would like a sump pump service connection must notify the project team by Tuesday, September 8.

Residents and motorists should expect construction equipment, temporary access restrictions, and changing traffic patterns in affected areas. Please use caution when traveling through work zones, follow all posted signs, and allow extra time to reach your destination.
Construction schedules are subject to change due to weather, site conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as crews continue making progress on these important infrastructure improvements.
School Pickup
With the start of the school year approaching, the project team is coordinating access around the construction area. The current plan is for school pickup to occur on Budd Avenue, south of the library, to provide a more consistent pickup location while construction continues.
Library Access
As construction continues in the downtown project area, access to the Maple Plain Library is temporarily limited.
The only access to the library is by traveling south on Budd Avenue from Highway 12. There is no access to the library from the Main Street East and Budd Avenue intersection (traveling north on Budd Avenue).
Please follow posted detour signs and allow extra travel time when visiting the library.
