Construction Update – Week of October 12

Construction will continue throughout the downtown project area during the week of October 12. Underground utility work for the 2026 Downtown Reconstruction Project is underway complete. Crews continue to rebuild the streets and moving overhead electrical/cable service underground.

Planned work includes:

  • Xcel Energy will continue to bury electrical lines along Main Street East, working west from Budd Avenue continuing the week of October 12.
  • Frontier & MediaCom will continue utility work during the week of October 12.
  • Crews will finish rebuilding the downtown streets on Tuesday. Crews will pivot and begin installing curb and gutters on October 15.
  • Crews will pave the parking lot at Rainbow Park mid-October.

Residents and motorists should expect construction equipment, temporary access restrictions, and changing traffic patterns. Please use caution in work zones, follow posted signs, and allow extra travel time.

Schedules may change due to weather, site conditions, or other unexpected issues. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as crews complete these important improvements.

Library Access

As construction continues in the downtown project area, access to the Maple Plain Library is temporarily limited.

The only access to the library is by traveling south on Budd Avenue from Highway 12. There is no access to the library from the Main Street East and Budd Avenue intersection (traveling north on Budd Avenue).

Please follow posted detour signs and allow extra travel time when visiting the library.
