Planning to Conduct Door-to-Door Sales in Maple Plain?

The City of Maple Plain requires individuals and companies engaged in door-to-door sales, solicitation, or peddling activities to obtain a Peddler and Solicitor License before conducting business within city limits. This licensing process helps protect residents, ensures compliance with local regulations, and provides a background review for individuals conducting business in the community.

Residents Information

The City of Maple Plain encourages residents to verify that anyone conducting door-to-door sales or solicitation activities has a valid City-issued Peddler and Solicitor License. Licensed solicitors are required to carry a copy of their approved license while conducting business within the city.

If an individual attempts to sell products, services, or solicit business without a valid license, residents are encouraged to contact West Hennepin Public Safety (763-479-0500) to report the activity. Prompt reporting helps protect the community and ensures that all solicitors comply with local licensing requirements.

License Requirements

Applicants must complete a license application and provide:

  • A completed Peddler and Solicitor License Application
  • Proof of affiliation with the company being represented
  • Company brochures, handouts, order forms, or marketing materials
  • A photocopy of a driver's license, state identification card, or passport
  • A non-refundable criminal background check fee of $50 per applicant

License Fees

  • Background Check Fee: $50 per applicant (paid at the time of application)
  • License Fee: $100 per company (paid after application approval)

Processing Time
