2025 was a year of progress and transformation for Maple Plain. We launched a new city website and began migrating permits and licensing to an online platform, making services more accessible for residents. Major infrastructure projects moved forward, including street improvements and drainage upgrades on Poplar and Willow Streets. Economic development was a highlight, with approvals for Kwik Trip and Comfort Haven, and continued work on downtown redevelopment. Community events like City Clean-Up Day, Party in the Park, and Battle of the Badges brought residents together and strengthened civic pride.
Public safety saw enhancements with the transition to Civic Ready for emergency notifications and ongoing efforts to address lift assist calls at care facilities. The Fire Department merger with West Suburban Fire District was finalized on December 16th, with both Maple Plain & Independence signing the agreements, turning over fire services to West Suburban Fire District on January 1, 2026.
Behind the scenes, staff worked diligently on the 2026 budget, long-term capital planning, and ordinance updates to support modernized operations. Thank you to our residents, council, and staff for making 2025 a successful year for Maple Plain.
