On September 9, the City of Maple Plain celebrated a significant milestone in the continued development of its downtown area. Matt Alexander and North Shore Development held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction on the Maple & Main apartment building.
Mayor Julie Maas-Kusske spoke during the ceremony, reflecting on the project’s progress from proposal to construction. “We are today at this joyous occasion; the groundbreaking of Maple & Main, downtown development! ,” Mayor Maas-Kusske said. “In October 2025, Almost a year ago, Matt and his team from North Shore Development approached the city about the possibility of building in Maple Plain. Today we are here to break ground on the Maple & Main apartment building.”
Earlier this year, the Maple Plain City Council approved the four-story, 95-unit apartment building. The development is designed to complement the character and feel of downtown Maple Plain while bringing additional housing opportunities to the community. The project will also feature pedestrian-friendly streetscape improvements and a fourth-floor Sky Lounge located on the building’s southeast corner overlooking Main Street.
