The City of Maple Plain is proud to celebrate a truly extraordinary milestone as longtime community member Alice McPherson marks her 100th birthday.
Born on July 23, 1926, Alice has witnessed a full century of history and has seen Maple Plain grow from a small railroad village of fewer than 300 residents into the vibrant community we know today. During her lifetime, she has experienced remarkable changes—from dirt roads and horse-drawn transportation to modern highways, smartphones, and the growth of the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
Alice's century of life serves as a living connection between Maple Plain's rich history and its bright future. Her life reflects the perseverance, resilience, kindness, and community spirit that have helped shape our city across generations.
In recognition of this remarkable achievement, the Maple Plain City Council has officially proclaimed July 23, 2026, as Alice McPherson Day in the City of Maple Plain.
The proclamation honors Alice's incredible journey and celebrates the wisdom, experiences, and lasting legacy that come with a century of life. It also recognizes the important role longtime residents play in preserving our community's history and inspiring future generations.
On behalf of the Mayor, City Council, and the entire Maple Plain community, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Alice McPherson and her family. We wish her a joyful celebration and thank her for being a cherished member of our community.
Happy 100th Birthday, Alice!
