Hennepin County will be upgrading and testing Maple Plain's outdoor warning sirens today at the normal 1pm time of the first Wednesday of the month. During this time, residents may notice technicians working at siren locations and hear brief 30-second "growl" tests as the upgraded sirens are calibrated and tested.
Beginning in August and continuing through at least October, the upgraded sirens will also be tested during the regular First Wednesday of the Month Outdoor Warning Siren Test. Most residents should notice little or no difference, although some sirens may sound slightly differently while the new system is being verified. No action is needed. These upgrades are part of a planned project to improve the reliability and performance of Hennepin County's outdoor warning siren system.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as these important improvements are completed to help keep our community safe.
