Residents of Maple Plain may notice temporary discoloration in their water over the coming days. This is due to fire hydrant flushing associated with contract work currently taking place in the City.

Hydrant flushing is a common and important part of maintaining the City’s water system. During this process, sediments that naturally settle in water mains can become stirred up, which may cause water to appear slightly discolored.

Please be assured that the water remains safe to use and meets all health and safety standards. The discoloration is temporary and does not affect water quality. Normal water clarity will return shortly after flushing activities are complete.

If you experience discolored water, you may choose to run cold water from a faucet for a few minutes until it clears. Residents are also advised to avoid doing laundry until the water runs clear to prevent potential staining.

The City appreciates your patience and understanding as we complete this necessary maintenance work to ensure a reliable and efficient water system.
