2050 comprehensive plan

The City of Maple Plain is beginning the process of developing its 2050 Comprehensive Plan, building upon the City's existing 2040 Comprehensive Plan.

The 2050 Comprehensive Plan will serve as a long-term guide for the City's growth and development, helping Maple Plain respond to changing community needs while preserving and strengthening the qualities that make it a desirable place to live, work, visit, and invest.

The plan will address several important areas, including:

  • Housing opportunities and future residential development
  • Transportation options and accessibility
  • Economic development and redevelopment
  • Parks, recreation, and open spaces
  • Environmental sustainability
  • Infrastructure improvements
  • Long-term planning to meet the community's evolving needs
Community Input Needed – Get Involved!

The City is seeking Maple Plain residents and business owners to participate in a community forum facilitated by the Metropolitan Council's Community Development staff.

The forum will provide an opportunity for participants to learn about the comprehensive planning process, share their perspectives, and provide valuable input on the City's future priorities. Community feedback will help shape the 2050 Comprehensive Plan and guide decisions affecting Maple Plain for years to come.

Interested in Participating?

Residents and business owners interested in participating in the forum are encouraged to contact Maple Plain City Hall no later than Friday, October 16, 2026.
